y is it heavier than mine
both gopt more or less teh same frame weight
i got F&R discs
i got heavier wheels
forks are more or less the same
more or less teh same cranks
if yer running teh primos tehyll be lighter

Edit: oops just noticed yer other disc, how long u had that?

LMAO! Just the answer I was expecting!

I have just a bit more frame material around BB + dropouts :D
I got f+r discs, the front *cough* rst *cough* is very heavy
You dont know you have heavier wheels
Forks I agree
The cranks are snafu, big and heavy + a larger BB and axle
heavier chainring/saddle (the little things)

I mainly did it for your reaction. Goodnight everyone.

MisterMental
10-31-2002, 06:33 PM
ooo a couple more square CM's wow:O
front rst disc with a 160mm rotor more or less equals it out plus a hydro lever would be weighter than a cable lever
u cant get much heavier tahn hope big uns with 321's laced 3cross
cranks are snafu which are more or less teh same as my tubular steel DMR's i got a 6mm alu chainring
i got a solid disc on teh back and am running DH inner tubes
i am soon to have a nice big bashguard
my rollercoaster is prolly heavier than yer dmr jobbie
bolt thro axel in teh front *might* be heavier than yer QR
and if i think of nething else youll be the first to know:P

I dunno, I haven't been posting very much anywhere. Pinkbike doesn't let me link which is a set back. There really aren't very many new ones I've seen. There have been quite a few that have been posted already that fill the last few pages. Pics of my bike will finally be up once I get my digi cam for Christmas.

Shiver SCs seem to be a popular item on those Ridges. They look like nice trailbikes. I'm REALLY impressed with their 2003 offerings.

monkeyboy424 I have the Hardtail fever and am enjoying it right until the snow flies.Still working on the DH bike already for next year as well. Can we say Beefier;) I have a set of the Truvative Cranks and BB that might be going on it(the hardtail) as well. For now the XT's seem okay but that splined setup is sick:D And Lizard that Balfa is sick with that shiver and if i had any spare 24's i would sell you one.

Hey i like that setup that you have.Just changed the XT cranks and the chainguide out to a Mr. Dirt chainguide and Truvative BB and cranks.Wanted to go to a splined setup that was a little more durable.Especially after i saw the flex that i had on the non drive side of the XT BB and cranks.
Good cranks and BB but for what i am dong with this bike i don't want to worry about flex in the middle of a drop;) Plus the yellow in the dirt chainguide matches the yellow in the Maxxis tires and goes well with the blue '02 frame:thumb:

don't worry neither did spend that much $$$$$.The XT's that were on there and the BB came off an old XC Steel hardtail that i have. The Truative cranks and BB came off a friends Scab.He took them off when he built the bike up and swapped them for a set of profiles.(He sold me the BB and the Truvativ cranks for $80,brand new)Couldn't pass that up;) As for the Mr. Dirt that came of my Stinky as i now have a Blackspire on it.(getting it ready for next year already:D
I pretty much already had everything expect the Truativ stuff and i got a great deal on it.I know the feeling when it comes to the $$$$$'s.I like good stuff but if possiable i don't want to have to spend alot of $$$$$.Plus it keeps the wife happy, most of the time;)

My big concern when i built up the Chute was the build it sturdy but not to over build it more than nessecary. It still comes in 1 lb. lighter than my friends Minuteman does. Not sure how besides frame material maybe. He runs a DJ 1 and an Evil guide with the same wheel combo 24" rear,26" front as i do.The only diiferance is that he has a Work Force stem on his mostly and i have the Dirt.;)

Thanks. It's a 6" Junior T QR20 ('02), the wheels are 24/26" Doubletracks. Like this, the bike isn't the greatest street performer, but it can still do it. I take it down the mountain more often, so it's slacker than most.

That's about the same here. Not much for the street but when it comes to the Mts. and the drops that were the fun kicks in.If i can do it on a DS bike why not a HT.I usally will do it on the HT before the FS bike.Go figuare:confused:

wish i could help ya out, but i just got that price by luck. a while back pinkbike had a draw for a brand new pink pornking frame. some guy won it and was trying to sell it for around $800 Can. didn't have any luck at that price so he put an ad up for $450...i came across it and jumped on it. i thought it was a joke at first, but figure i'd ask if he was serious just in case...and well, now its mine

what's even better is i only spent about $220 US on parts (fork, headset, seatpost) the rest of the components i got from another bike i bought for cheap and stripped for parts..sold the frame and fork and some other parts from it for almost what i paid for the complete bike :D

so what's that, like $500 US for a complete pornking w/ dual 8" Hayes, z-3 qr20, Alex DX-32's raceface prodigy Dh cranks....:D:D:D

Sweet bike there:thumb:It takes alot of guy to ride a pink bike.Remember the days(still today)that the pink bikes were for the girls and if it didn't have a top tube there was no way that you were going to ride it:D
Either way it's still a nice ride there:thumb:

It's an updated photo with a new cam, I thought it turned out a lot better.. the rotor shot thing is the cam on "macro" mode (the colour is very true to life, at least on my monitor).. what kind of d. camera is it? specs? I'm looking into getting one myself.
BTW, your ride is sweet. Did you get it from a local shop or direct?

It's a Fuji 2600Z, 2.0MP, 3x opt. zoom, uhm.. 20sec video w/o sound. Damn good cam for the money, I'd say the best point and shoot in it's price range - I did a LOT of reasearch before making the decision, it was a toss up between this and the Canon A40, which is also a very good cam for the money - but, mine came with a battery charger, and a 16mb smartmedia card. I had an HP PS 320, and man was it ever a piece of crap. Shadows/gradients were horrid, it was grainy as hell.

Thanks - I basically built it up from one shop over time, it's had many faces. The frame also came from the same shop on closeout (they got kicked off the dealer list for undercutting other dealers), I got a really good deal on it. Originally I had a 15" frame, but I had some serious headset issues which eventually ovalized the headtube. Eric was kind enough to come in on a Sunday afternoon, and did a direct frame trade with me no charge, even threw in some stickers. With the new frame I don't think there's any chance of ovalization. It has 5mm thick cro-moly "rings" top and bottom. The new frame is also much thicker in the top tube and seatstays, needless to say I'm very, very confident on it.

And for 10,000$ that could be yours too!
It wasnt designed as a production frame, but rather as a test platform. I am sure there are some things in the works at evil, though. Didnt ironhorse buy their pivot design?

Hey get that thing outta the burly HARDtails thread hehehehe

Ok, so I've perused EVERY PAGE of this thread for aesthetic inspiration on my new hardtail (nicolai BMXTB). Got the build set up already, all black and grey, but can't for the life of me choose a color.

This thread didn't help. In fact, it confused me more. DAMN YOU AND YOUR NICE BIKES. My Surly was ugly, but it made life easy since it only came in one color.

The only thing I haven't seen is green. I'm now thinking a nice, deep green might make a pretty nice bike, esp. 'cuz I ride trails more than urban.

Or should I go greyish blue like I'd planned with the Thylacine???
Baby blue?

Ano silver? Bronze?

God, I'll shut up and stop bothering you all. I'll post pics when I finally get the sucker in hand, whatever I choose.

protigy I really wish you'd get that thing built up! God it's gorgeous. I can just picture it built.. Thompson, XTR, Atomlab, Chris King.. mmmmm!

And Bronze would be a dope colour for a burly HT!

I’ve found that any paint finish can look great, as long as you keep the component selection completely black. If you start mixing black, grey, ti, silver, etc parts, then the aesthetics have to be considered a little more. But with all black parts, a burnt metallic orange can look just as bitchin as matt beige, tennis ball yellow, or black.

Ben, didja happen to get my email concerning a build kit for my HT a while back...? Never heard back from you. I need a bunch of parts, still. Lemme know if you want me to re-send it; I have some revisions to it, as well...

Oh, and thankfully, Nicolai doesn't do ano gold...anything 'pimp' doesn't suit my personality that well. Army green is a cool color, but it reminds me too much of work. I was considering a matt khaki-ish for a while...

Now british racing green seems to be a possibility as well. Would look good in the woods... I still want to find a pic of the ano bronze just to see what it looks like. Found an example online, but I don't know if it's the same as Nicolai's bronze.

when i got it (used) it had a black seat, with white lettering markered red, a red fork with the arch painted black, a black deore shifter with the lettering markered red, and black cranks. i didnt like the color scheme so much, and im replacing things one at a time. no der -- SS, new seat, new cranks, new fork, need a new stem, this ones bent but i love it, and i need a new bar since this one is bent some, (and the bar is actually metallic pink RF riser!)
