Here's my bike,
components of note:
The brand new Evil Chainguide
on-one reetad crank
Hope O2 brake
98 Z-1 BAM that has a new crown, steerer, brace, and has helicoiled disc tab mounts.

Many beatiful bikes here, this just adds another one.

Sweet you dont see to many DDG's in the US. how do you like it? also didt they go out of business ? their sit has been down for months.

I'm not sure about DDG going out of business, I got a great deal on the frame from the U.S. distributor, about 6 months ago. Fram has treated me well so far, geometry is nice for the djing and such, not too heavy, no percieved weakness when doing drops and hucking, i successfully put a 2.5" maxxis highroller in the back, plus it matches up perfect with my 4" Z-1. For the price it has treated me great, and no one else has one, added uniqueness factor.

Ride as much as possible

I meant like oldskool freestyle bikes, which the Canadian Tire bikes are a knockoff of...

I'm not dissing Canadian Tire anymore. That's where I but tires for my hardtail. Kenda 24x1.95" tires that are means for kids bikes. AWESOME for street (they're like 11bux and wear pretty slow) and they're actually somewhat decent for offroad use...

*edit*: That old trickstar is RAD! Tuffs too, eh? Hoffman's using tuffs again. I think he has a deathwish.

Deore rear deraileurs because they function decently and are cheap and don't hurt the wallet as much when they get smashed up.

Hey diesel... did you replace the stock bolts on your cranks? I take it you need a puller using those bolts you have on there.

This is assuming that MM with the avids is yours. While we're on the topic, how is the 8" avid? How much did you pay?

yea shes mine.

the 8" rules except my fork was already creaking before i put it on there and im a little worried about how long it will hold up. but there is a SERIOUS difference in power and i thought my 6" was pretty damn tough.

all the bolts on the profiles are stock actually. are you talkin about the bolt that goes into the axel? I actually do not have to use a puller, the press fit between the crank and axel isnt all that tight...i can put them on/off with my hand.

Ahh yes cryofit creak. Mine is brutal. Is that a Z3 QR20? My freind snapped one of those, and my other freind just sent one in for warranty a little while ago. I've sent my fork in for creaking once already too.

How's the modulation with the 8"? Better? Which levers are you using with them?

Yeah, I meant that bolt. Looks like one of those "hop-up kit" bolts.

no its really not about manners. i personally think being put on this thread is a compliment and it is in fact good manners to take a picture that is copyright PINKBIKE (not the owner of the bike) and put it in this thread, a thread that pays tribute to dreambikes.

i knew SOMEDAY some anal freak would roll up into this thread and i knew that person would be from pinkbike and i knew theyd get all huffypuffy about thier bike being in this thread. lemme just say it is most certainly about copyright. im not about to email every person who owns a sweet hardtail and decides to post it on pinkbike and ask them if i can LINK TO IT (not even download it and post it on my own server). sorry you post it on pinkbike it becomes pinkbike property, if pinkbike wants to contact me or anyone else who has linked to a pic on thier site we'll deal with that. as for this guys bommer, i'd delete that post, he doesnt deserve to part of this showcase IMO.

I've only had it for a few weeks now, and i ran out of cash building it, so that's why it has the sissy stoppers on it. Ive got some disks on the way, it'll be way better.

You wont be dissapointed with the frame at all... cool geometry. Mines a 16" and it climbs like hell, but its super whippy like a 13" frame.. nice and stiff too.

Planet X Jack Flash RAD, white hawaiian. 2001 Z.3 QR.20.

I have a lot of the parts, the rest should be here by the end of the week. Ben said that my Planet X LMF rim hasn't come in yet though.

I don't have a digi cam but I'll find some way to get a pic of it up when it's built, which will hopefully be within the next couple weeks. I'm really getting tired of not being able to ride.

Ridge_Rider
08-08-2002, 02:19 PM
Yes, it is in fact my bike. I set it up with the Pott's mod (It also had a Gyro, but I couldn't get it to work right) and a rigid fork, so I could do some flatland tricks with it. I'm going to put some pegs on soon, just for fun. I never really planed on using in the woods or for serious dirt jumping, I just built it to play on.

It's a UD150, previous model of the DH-2. 1997-98. Not a terrible fork, but a bit flexy for some - needs the beefier crowns of the newer models. I used to have one. I sold it for $200 with a fresh EKO rebuild to a friend.

We both run our posts that way, just seems better as in adjustablility, not that we do adjust them that much or have ball poking angles. To be honest, Ive always ran my post that way and i set his bike up for him. Heres my backwards post.

Hey guys,

Forgive me but I haven't really read this thread sinec its creation. I am looking at getting a HT More like HD XC HT...I am to big to drop stuff on a HT.

In particular this frame was bought from Identiti and resickered. (It still has the Identiti sticker on the chain stays)

Are these decent HT's....and if so, they are comparable to?

I figured I would run my 1998 Boxxer with original non disk Boxxer hub with Mammoth rim from my old HD XC FS days. I have a set of GT CNC hubs laced up to Mammoth rims. Run V's (Cuz IM cheap) and mostly std drivetrain....maybe freeride cranks (just becase my size)

Just mostly parts I have around I could build a large portion of the bike without new stuff.

What do you think?

What do you think?

there's noting wrong with that at all. if you can, you may want to go for a better "hardcore playbike" type frame such as a Clif Cat Hammerhead or Balfa Minuteman, but those are pretty expensive. a cheap, but very strong alternative might be that frame that's in a recent thread that was like $125(i dont remember the name or anything).

The Identiti is new.

Has anyone ridden one? I guess they are a European frame maker so I guess not to many reach over to the states.

How much do the Balfa and Clif Cat run for?

How heavy is that bike? More importantly the front wheel. I'm running the same rim in the back and it's brutally heavy... but strong. Very very strong... I'm sorta leaning towards a matching wheelset.

to be honest i have no clue as to a specific weight, but a rough estimate would be above 20kg's

the rims alone are 1,1kg each (according to px's site)

unless the weight bothers yah id say go for it while you still can, the goliath rim is discontinued according to the swedish px distributor

Why's that?

it just seems like a with such a bike built up so "bombproof" why would you have a psylo on there? i've seen 2 of them crack on tiny stuff. pimp factor is also low. :D the rest of the bike far makes up for it tho.

Psylo's don't get enough credit.........I've seen Marzocchi's break in wussy situations also. I think it looks pretty sweet on the bike anyway.
