Not 100% sure... some of it she already had (wheels, tires, seat, pedals, stem) and she bought the frame 2nd hand although never built. She's member of my team, and got the fork through our Marzocchi grass-roots sponsorship program... All told, I guess she has a bit more than $1000 into it.

what fasion tragedy is this!! and could someone explain to me how the new minuteman dropouts could possibly be stronger than the old style. i know nothing of frame design, but they just look so much more weak.

That last green one looks very much like a DMR Trailstar, without stickers. Also that green one has a huge headtube gusset. The Trailstars usually don't have that. Otherwise, it's got the same "dents" in the chainstays, same skinny tubing and the same seatpost clamp (they come with the frame).
I can also see that it's a newer model, as it has 24-26 inch compatible brake mounts. The little red thingies...
Maybe it's one of those new long travel versions, hence the gusset.

A beast? Well I smelled like one after huffing this tank up the hills today. I don't have a car so it's a good extra 45 minutes of climbing the road to the trailhead. And oh yes, I walked it a couple of times!

Sometimes I run a disc rotor and no front brake cuz I only have 1 front wheel and 2 bikes... Maybe it's something like that.
I hate when I'm riding my HT and people come up and say stuff like "Why do you run a rotor with no brake? Are you trying to be cool?" It makes me angry and gives me a strong urge to punch them in their face.
Edit: I really like the looks of that Stiffy SL on the previous page...

There ain't nowt better than a DMR spesh one in action.
This is my lil baby, was riding a fully but do'nt have the coin to get new chains, deraileur hangers etc etc and race, so back to the trusty DMR, and on go the RST XXL forks, running magura on rear (thats non disk), yes it is a bottle cage, I did tail end charlie for a XC race the week before, plus it was hot and i didn't ahve my camelbak with me so i needed water at the top of the hill for the mandatory long wait, ANd a set of full old school XTR cranks (from second generation so plenty old but super strong), Clips for racing, flats for fun

Actually I have less back pain with a longer travel fork, (who knew?) and the more "retarded" geometry allows me to do more "retarded" things...
Try a hardtail with a big fork sometime, you know what they say:

Wassap people,
Am gonna rebuild my 14" Azonic DS1 that's been hybernating in my living room for 6 months now... I am planning to put a 01 Super T on it (6" fork), do you guys know if that frame can take the stress of a long fork like that???
I'm getting the parts I need in a week, and also have a 4" Z3qr20 that I don't use, but I would rather ride the Super T if the frame can take it....
Anyone have any experience with the DS1 and long travel DTCs?
I really am not impressed with the DS1 at all by the way (none of the 3 frames I got my hands on were welded straight), but it's something for now until I can afford a nicer HT....
Thanks!
Christian =)
By the way, twas awesome riding with everyone on Gambrill 2 days ago!!! I had to leave early coz I crashed on Death trail and knocked my head a little where I wasn't feeling too well.... Its all better now tho :-D
Maybe next time you'll see me on the hardtail.... :)

Since when does Ghetto-man ride burly hardtails, I thought he only rode motocross bikes in Crusty 4. Although he was riding in downtown Brooklyn which could be considered urban riding.

As I realized recently, some snapshot cameras do f***ed up things. My girlfriend's camera has this lop-sided fish eye thing going on. Check the rear wheel on my new bike. The camera makes it look like I have a 24" in the front and a 29" in the back!!

The lop-sidedness you are seeing is due to perspective. This is a common occurance when using wide angle lenses for objects close to the lens. Because a wide lens "sees" so closely, distances are totally blown out of proportion. Likewise, if you took a photo with a telephoto lens, you expeience what is call compression. You know all those pics you see of NYC with all the people literally jammed up against each other? A telephoto will exaggerate that effect just as a wide-angle can distort close objects. It's a popular photo-journalism technique for environmental/working portraits. The subjects remains big while capturing all of the scene behind it as well. I've seem this technique put to GOOD use in DHing.

Okay, so you guys with your pics got me all psyched to go out and get a DS frame again, since I sold my old one a couple years ago. I checked out all your pics, and specs on different frames. Got a Z1, MRP slalom and some new hayes at home for something as well a good mix of XT/XTR. Which frame would you buy if you didn't have one already. Kinda liked the pictures of the DMR trailstar with the 24"er's. Where can you buy one if you live in the states?
Don't know if I'd race it, but I might. Mostly it would just be fun bike for jumps and sh*t.

DMR are distributed in North America by Norco. I don't know of any shops that carry them, though...
A Cortina 4130 is not far from the DMR, geometry wise. Also the material is the same and the price is most likely very close.

lol yeah, i wasnt expecting them to warantee it or anything. Airbomb was quite amazed when i brought the fork into them. They thought i had it on a downhill bike . They didnt snap from me running into a tree or from me screwing up. They just snapped when i landed off a jump. I didnt even case it! From what little knowledge I have, I thought that brazing was stronger if you have two faces that are sliding along each other, but not if you just butt a tube against another one. It would be stronger if you had gussets around the tubes and welded those up, wouldn't it? I might be thinking about other things though.
Even if the method of joining is strong, that thing still looks sketchy.

Thanks, man. I didn't really dig the rotors Hope specs on the mini's, but couldn't really justify going for the M4's (although those rotors are *killer*), so the rotovators worked out perfectly. Maybe a little flashy, but I think the rest of the bike is clean enough to get away with them.
My 24-7 in it's current incarnation. And no, that's not just a normal cassette with no deraileur, it's an old cassette I had that I've taken apart and rearranged the order of everything so that all the cogs are sandwiched up at the hub, and then the spacers are around the cog. Seems to work well enough.

Oooh, nice. How do you like those bars? I'm thinking of getting some when (not if, when) my 24-7 bars bend.
I've just put the bars on today, so I haven't got that much time on them yet. I did go for one ride though, and they felt solid. I had the aluminum version of the DMR bar before, and the sweep is the same (4 deg) and everything.

Nice bike! Did you leave the front brake cable long so you can to bar spins and x ups?
Someone always have to nag about something don't they...;) Why is the cable long,.. Why is the rear brake cable all tangled up aroung the brake,.. Why are there two allen keys sitting on the cranks................... :)

Perhaps we should start a 'Band-Logo-Stealers' Fund for Helmetless Kids' together, bomber? Really bothers me to see that, too. End of rant [which happens after every helmetless pic].

F*** that! Dirt jump lids are dirt cheap!! If you can afford a bike built to survive jumping, you can afford a killer helmet, if not 5 cheap ones...
Love your sig by the way...

Very true, very true. I didn't *really* think that people refuse to wear helmets b/c of cost, though...
(Thanks...I was gonna use the little ska guy from an Op Ivy album, but he didn't scan so well...I think this one's better...though I still kinda feel like a thief.)

i personaly don't use one unless i'm doing a dh(mx one)' piss pots' as there know on this side of the pond never feel right on my head they woble when jumping and distract me and often in crashed they come off , well they do on my head, that and to me a bit of plastic and 1/2 and inch of foam doesn't really protect me i've still got ko'd when using one ok i probbly would if i han'd had one but i wouldn't be left with stiches from the shatterd plastic that was my 'pisspot':(
anyway thats my rant, the way i look at it if u don't want to don't bother and u can suffer the consiquences.

1/2" of foam and some plastic don't protect you? OK, I'm gonna hit you in the head with a hammer. Do you 1) want a helmet, or 2) not want a helmet?
Gimme a break.
Yeah, it's gonna hurt either way, but... I've crashed and been KO'd and/or recieved a concussion with a fullface on, too...don't complain that you were KO'd. Be glad your brains aren't splattered on a rock.
I'm pretty much a libertarian...so I think it's pretty much gonna be your choice to wear it or not, but I can't say I think you're making a smart or good choice.
Then again, I don't want the rest of society paying for an idiot's medical care, either, in the form of higher medical insurance.
I think this argument's gonna go on forever and this isn't the place; people want pics of hardtails here, so that's my last cent on the issue. Rebut if you will, or just send me a PM...I think everyone's prolly tired of this already. Ride on, be safe.

that baby looks sweet. give us some stats
Cyclepro (http://www.cyclepro.se) : A Swedish company... They don't really make super-high end bikes. I don't think they sell the frames seperatly...

Its exactly the same frame as the azonic evolution.

The model is called "Xelos". From what I can see, it only comes as a complete bike. Direct link (http://www.cyclepro.se/cyklar.asp?artno=22293&category=10).
The price is 13.995 Swedish crowns. That's 1.356,99 US$ with todays exchange rate...
If you are serious about maybe getting this bike, it will most likely be a pain for you to get a hold of one, since you live in the Americas.

Okay, here is the review, I took it dirtjumping yesterday, it was the bike and mines first time. The bike is very balanced feeling. I thought the weight would be an issue, but it just seemed to make everything feel stable. The finish of the bike is good. It is anodised, which I admit is nice to look at but not so strong! The welds are quality, and the design seems bomb proof.

If you missed Timmy Turtle's post, it is most likely the exact same frame as the Azonic Evolution. At least it looks that way frome the pic. They retail for around 450(?)
Warped
04-24-2002, 08:11 PM
that doesnt necessarily mean they will be the same price. with Azonic, you're paying for the name too. i am pretty sure that the eliminator-style frames differ in price too.
