THESE HARDTAILS ALL ROCK! does a hardtail with a triple clamp fork follow a dual suspension bike off the same big drops and stunts or can you go that big with these bikes? let me know...they are still really cool.

I'd say not quite the same stuff, but you can go really big with some of these hardtails. If you can find any info on Russ Morrell, he has been riding a Balfa Hardtail, and didi try to compete in the RedBull Rampage last year. There is some footage of him hitting a huge drop, followed by another on the hardtail. They say it was 30feet or so, and it looks sooo smooth!!!

in the spirit of the above CLifcat, i'll re-post mine.
I ovalized the headtube/cracked the downtube (fualty heat theatment) so i am getting a new one.... the new ones are made from steel, so it'll be a steel TankAss with hor drops

wow, i can't even imagine a 30 foot drop on a hardtail. seems like it would be painful, but i guess if you do it right it might not be. thats some crazy stuff though. the red bull rampage is insain with full suspension bikes-but a hardtail!?

Do you run your seat like that to make Urban tricks like barspinners and Ex-ups easier to acomplish. I do in on my DH bike because I like to use my knees to lean the bike over and I like to press against the larger part of the saddle. People make fun of me though.

update pic of my Lifetime, now a singlespeed. To those who are interested, you can run a qr hub with delta axle rods and it should stay in place. I've been running it like this for a while and it seems as rigid as a bolt on hub...

Dude, I would like to recomend a Balfa minuteman. It is the ultimate hardtail. I just built one up, and it is sweet dude. But I have a question? What type of riding are you going to be doing? If you want a bike that will do a little, trials, trail, DJ, urban, shore, go with the minuteman. But if all you are doing is ridng urban, dj, street, park kind of stuff, save some money and go with the gimp, I love it.

If you kept your clothes on when you 'pressed against the saddle,' people might not make as much fun of you. I guess running that anatomically-split seat makes the 'pressing' easier, though...

Hey thanks, that's a big complement, :) no i d that on my little room, wich i use for putting old stuff, you don;t use every, and hang up the laundry.
:D Because off the dust who will fly around outside.I first sanded it down, it was bloodred, and i put some primer on it, a few layers, rapped the rest of the fork in tape, special for painting. And then sprayed it several times with gold spray paint.:thumb: I think also it looks very nice. That was the comment also from my friends.

Yeah, full range of adjustment. I really like this set up. There's not much difference in running a 24x3.0 and 26x2.5 - they are about the same height. Difference is the 3.0 soaks up a lot of hits on the hardtail and getting over stuff is not an issue. I'm running an xt rear hub - so far, so good.

It's a bad thing to do w/ my chainline. The brooklyn has a perfect chainline towards the lower cogs and I wanted to use a larger cog but I didn't have access to a single one to replace the smaller cogs at the bottom with. That's only tentative. I just ordered a 18 t cog w/ a spacer ss conversion kit and should have it friday :D . No more ghost shifting into a higher gear and getting screwed. It cracked right at the end of the downtube gusset. Its a good 1 inch long. Haha, i loved that frame and i anxiosuly await the warranty frame. I had been riding rigid for a few weeks and i think that may have done it in.

It's a 5" Firefly 1.5. Still, my guess is about a 67-68 HA with the fork. It feels really slack, but since I ride mostly DH/FR stuff with it, it worked well for me last time (old frame had a 1 1/8 HT with a Shiver SC and felt similar.)
I have no clue how someone could ride a breakout on this frame... It didn't feel bad on BMXman's 2MXtb, but I think the BMXtb must be based around a shorter fork.

Specs are pretty superfluous I guess - you can see most of the components. Weight is just shy of 35 pounds - it will lose a little bit this summer with smaller tires, maybe some lighter hubs & double butted spokes.

That's a pretty sweet setup. The Ringleaders are pretty nice bars for the price - like most Titec stuff, it's neither exotic nor pretty, but it's tough and inexpensive.
The Michi 2.5's have been good tires. They're pretty worn at the moment, and I'll probably be going with a 2.2" Comp24 rear, and a 2.5" Comp16 front. I like the Michelin rubber compound, and they work damn well with my Stan's tubeless setup.

Sizing is pretty accurate in the 2.5, although the 2.2 runs more like a 2.3. The Comp24 appears a little smaller than it is because the knobs don't protrude as far. The Comp16 is a little knobbier.
The Michi's are UST compatible so I can run them on my Stan's setup without worrying about sealant.

To bad.. but i heard it is a important peace of your fork. Because it will make the fork stronger. Next time if you have new ones, put some loctite 242 on your brake bosses. Then they will never come loose again. Unless you want it your self. If you can't find them, X-lite sells them to.

The only difference between the OnePointFive standard and Cannondale's headtubes is the insertion depth of the headsets. So the Lefty fork will work on any 1.5 standard frame.

Here are some pics of the .243 frame and the 04 Norco 4 HUN and 125cc. For complete bikes, the Norcos are pretty hard to beat. The frames are redesigned for 04 and are much nicer than the 03's The 4 HUN is $2100 and the 125 is $1129.00.

You'll get slapped pretty quick if you post spam like that around here. Put your URL in your signature so that it'll automatically show up on every post - but you shouldn't advertise your products unless you're paying for ad space.
However, real pictures of burly hardtails are always acceptable, so post away - the Unreal Cycles guy does it all the time. Things like the .243 pics you posted, right off their website, don't belong in this thread, and the "if you like what you see you can buy it here..." type statements will get your post deleted.

can you share some details about the build? i'm pretty curious what part spec would let you assemble a 20lb .243 that wouldn't spontaneously explode.

I have rebuilt my Revell as my practice/training bike. I will be ripping up Kenter Whoops & Rocky Peak BMX on it (slam down the sherman to 3" mode & pump up the SPV!). Maybe even try a DS race at Big Bear. I was going to sell it, but all interested parties were to brok to do it. All good though, gives the FXR a break until the next MTX race.

How big is that drop? You must be a pretty smooth rider to be doing that on a hardtail (translation: I wish I could do that)!

Thanks man, those hubs are whatever the stockers from a 2001 RM7 were. The wheels were originally built for use on a RM7 before they became the hoops for the Jack flash. So I dunno if they're rocky hubs or if someone makes those hubs for rocky... And yeah they're burly but I need that much strength on the back of my hardtail for umm...not riding so smooth sometimes ;) I guess I could lighten up the front but whatever it works no sense in spending more than I have to.

Well I can't say that I"ve ridden the gimp or even seen it in real life for that matter but I absolutely love my jack flash. It's one of two bikes I've ever had that I wouldn't sell or change a thing about it ever. It came together perfect for what I use it for. So I guess I'd have to say I reccommend the PX but it's a little biased ;)

I dusted off an old tablet I got somewhere, been messing around a bit. Keep in mind, I'm no artist. I had to trace a bit (bicycle frames are ^%@#$ deceptively hard to draw!), but tried to keep the tracing "loose".

Could you post a picture of just the bike? The add says you can get 2 sizes - is that 24 and 26" ?

I need to convert my son's rear wheel to a solid nutted axle. How do I go about it? He has a DT Onyx and we can't keep the rear wheel straight in the drop out with a QR. Damn horizontal drop outs.

The frame comes with adjustable canti mounts and the chainstay will allow a pretty big tire. I'll snap a picture when I can pry him off of it.

my 04 kona cafe.
the cafe s a specal edition made for and sold by the Bicycle cafe located in Canmore Alberta and Kamloops B.C. the spec is the same as an 04 Kona stuff but sports the roast's flat black and grey paint scheme the "CAFE" lettering on the top tube is in the same font as the shops logo and the frame also has the helicoptor of the cafe logo on it. a hayes HFX-9 6inch disc brake upgrade is also availible from kona and is installed by the dealer .
mine has been changed alot, I have the hayes upgrade aswell I chaged the seat from a Koan DJ to a Kona out of bounds, the grips from cowans to koan glow in the dark and the fork from the Marz drop off comp to a kona dirt jump rigid. also i put Tioga factory DH tires on

I dont know about converting the DT Onyx specifically. The hub I have on in the picture I bought with a 10mm solid axle. However, I did convert the XT hub on my other wheel to a 10mm solid axle. It was pretty easy, I went to a local shop and got a solid 10mm cromo axle (I think it was 178mm long, but I would check that before buying) then got some axle nuts for it. The threads on the axle are 10x1.0 metric threads. I just took the QR axle out and put the solid one in (make sure you keep track of what order the cones, nuts, etc come off in...) Hope this helps out!

SWD Racing custom steel frame. Cant get over how well it rides, love this bike.
Marz Z.1 Dual and DH4 brakes. Profile cranks with "Evil-D" chainguide; Evil boomerang with Montara Designs Super-D bashgaurd.
Pics from when I first built it up; I re-did the routing so its not so stupid now.

if this were going to be a permanent setup i'd swap the reducers/king for the e13 zerostack reducer cup setup (http://www.e13components.com/zerostack_reducer_cups.html) which in turn would allow me to run a flat crown and no spacers.
