I am trying to adjust a Suntour FD XC 9000 (c1988 Schwinn Aluminum Pro 1.86g). I am dyslexic so it is hard for me to figure out which screw is related to which adjustment. It is also a closed design so you can't see the ends of the screws. The screw on top is a totally stripped philips head, so I can't adjust it to do much experimenting. I am going to get this stripped one replaced but in the meantime, I'd like to know so I can make a note of which screw does what. I looked in all my repair manuals but they don't show any FD of this style. I adjusted the one facing me but it didn't seem to do much. I don't want to get things too far out of whack.
Which screw is the stop for throwing the chain to the smaller chain wheel. The top one or the one facing you?
