buying a set of d321's tomorrow to replace a set of fairly inexpensive alex wheels. i know they're a good strong wheel but will they be good for everyday aggresive trail riding, light jumps, or am i going to have to hit the gym to lug these around?

They are a little heavy for all around riding, but very durable. A Mavic 521/721 would probably suit you better.

Luggin' those around will BE your gym! :sneaky:
I ride a Bullit with 'em XC for training. DH tires and tubes too.

How about some nice cheap rhynolites? You can buy 3 of these for one D321.

The rhynolites would probably be OK for you...and are relatively cheap. I run Mavic F219s on my Azonic hardtail. They've taken a good beating and haven't flinched. I think Mavic is now calling them the new 321s. They are 28mm wide and fairly light. Remember build quality is very important in terms of the strength of the wheelset......loose spokes equal bent rims/flat spots
