I am currently riding an 02 specialized big hit. The problem i am having now is that i can not put the bike into 1st gear (smallest) because of the large tire i have in the rear. when the chain gets into that gear the tire nubs derail it.
NO i dont not wanna change my tire but i was thinking about getting something liek this: http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/13367-075_BLADW4-3-Parts-53-Chains/Tensioners/Blackspire-Dewlie-Chain-Guide-w_-22_32_Bash.htm

MY QUESTION IS: Is there a way to space the whole unit out like 1/2 inch so that my tire wont knock around the chain?

What type of crank and bottom bracket do you have now? How many chainrings?
