Hey guys,

Lately I've been having a problem with my Profile 3-Piece cranks. They are making this creaking sound that has suddenly gotten worse in the past week. It is only at a certain part where I put pressure in the rotation of the cranks and it sounds like something is flexing or moving a little bit. Do any of you know what the problem is?

Thanks,

Brandon

I know this sounds kinda funky, but grease your spindle. It worked for me on all 3 sets of profiles I've had. Pull off one bolt and arm, pull the spindle out of the BB, and rub grease (a light coat will do) all over it. Then put it back into the BB. Most of the grease will rub off onto the bearing but the grease that remains should do the trick. If not, your cups might be moving in your frame or your bearings may be crapping out.

i didn't have a crank tool so i got my shop to install these so here's my question. I take the bolt out of the crank arm but then i can't get the arms off the spindle. Do i need a crank arm puller to grease the spindle and if so what size do i need?

thanks

Thread the bolt out a little bit, and hit it with a hammer. The crankarm will come off the spindle a small amount. Repeat until the arm is completely off. OR, take the bolt all the way out and put a punch (or screwdriver) into the hole in the spindle and tap it with a hammer. The spindle will be pushed out of the arm. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON"T MESS UP THE THREADS!

I gave a full description on this page, I don't want to be a search nazi but I found it in like two seconds.....

check the tightness of your chainring bolts. mine did the same.
