I was told once by the Intense team wrench Johnny Bottema that his riders preferred the Mavic 321 (at the time) over the Mag 30 because the 30 was very stiff and was more prone to pinch flats when running low tire pressure. The other Sun rims were too soft and tended to flat spot under them. The Mavic was just right.

I experienced this problem. I spent several months on a set of Mag 30s last summer and had a lot more flats than usual. I installed a Stan's kit to try to help the problem and begin to snake bite (dh) tire casings. I ruined a set Mitchys at N*, 1/2" slices in the sidewalls pinching the tire between rock and rim. I run reasonable air pressure (upper 20s) and I weigh about 160. I switched back to Mavic hoops and the problem went away. I find the Single Tracks bend way too easy, I always come back to Mavic, they seem to have the best combination of performance and durability. Even though the 823s bend easier than I'd like.....
