Anyone here do the local races? I'm thinking about trying a race or two to train in the off season.

Don't know how they work it now days.....but, 'back in day' (5 years ago), they had a 'Mt Cross' class. You guessed it, Mt bike division for a cyclocross race.

I race the local cx series and you can ride mountain bikes in the "C' And "B" class just not "A". If you have never raced cross I would race "C" next week will be my first cross race this year since breaking my arm in ID, so should be fun. Also on Wendsday nights at the Marymoore Velodrome they have cyclocross practices. The sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 every Wednesday from September 8th through December 1st. the practices consist of skill drills and a practice race it will really help if you have never raced cx. Cost is $10 per session, $5 for juniors. Hope to see you out there :thumb:

c class is the easy one.
if the course is flat the cross bikes are faster.
if your at Steilacoom and they run up & down the hills a mtb has the advantage.
