mrs junkyard spent a good part of her childhood here. I’ve also been in the area a lot. Campo is most definitely a shit hole filled with tweakers and weirdos.

This spot is for sale near the good trails. The dirt bike track looks really cool from the road, as its all in tall pine trees, not out in the open like most tracks.

Just need to win the lottery this week.

Are property taxes more moderate in your part of the world? 'Cause $10k in taxes on a $2.7 million property seems pretty reasonable, IMO.

They're called "Rates" in this part of the world, and yes substantially less. In the city a $2.6m property I'd expect to pay say $2-2.5k
Rural is less, my place is circa $1m and I'm paying about $860 a year.

Interesting. At least here in the states, property taxes in a lot of states are the primary source of funding for public schools. And states vary *wildly* in the tax rate on property.

For example, in Colorado, our effective *state* rate is 0.49%
In Texas, the effective state rate is 1.60%
New Jersey: 2.26%

Definitely higher where I’m from… about 10x. Water and trash removal are included fwiw. School tax is separate.
